Awaken Your Inner Child!

Exporail’s program meets the needs of the modern family. 

Exporail’s permanent exhibitions are sure to delight your young children. The exhibitions area designed to ensure that families have fun as they discover this fascinating world.

Family activities are scheduled throughout the year. Consult the section theme days for more information.

At the Museum, take information on our annual passes that give you the opportunity to visit us as often as you like for one year. The freedom to take the train participate in our activities.

We offer a site adapted for children, changing table, high chairs in the restaurant area, steps for counter in bathrooms, water fountain and a picnic area. Strollers are accepted on the site and in the different exhibitions rooms. They are not authorised on the streetcar or inside railway vehicles.

Activities offered all year round

Access to certain vehicles

In the Grand gallery, access to certain vehicles allows children to imagine driving a streetcar, a steam locomotive or a modern locomotive.

The Model Train Room

In addition to observing the movement of trains, children can look for animals, means of transport, railway structures distributed throughout the network.

Observation Games

Provided with a kit, a notebook or just a leaflet, children and their parents can discover and rediscover the collection of railway vehicles: Where are my friends? (June to October), Christmas stocking (December), Winter travel (January and February), Easter Chicks and Rabbits (April).

Miniature Railway ($)

A favourite among our yougest visitors! The train passes over three bridges and through one tunnel (from March to December).

Passenger Train ($)

From May, 21, on Saturdays and Sundays, the public can board the Exporail passenger train for a ride of approximately 20 minutes. Boarding is at Barrington Station. Departures are every 30 minutes starting at 10:30 a.m. A brief stop is made at the Gare de La Montée des Bouleaux in Delson.

Please note that rides on the passenger train are offered until the end of October. Consult the schedule at the reception desk upon your arrival. The tour schedule is subject to change or cancellation at any time without notice.

Little Railroaders’ car

Canadian Pacific Railway baggage car, has been transformed to welcome children from 3 to 7 years of age!  Now officially renamed the “Little Railroaders’ Car”, this car has had its interior redesigned to enable youngsters to learn, through games, how railway workers lived aboard trains. 

Rail Smart Rally

With the help of an exploratory notebook that you can pick-up at the information counter, visitors cross the six stages of the rally by moving throughout the museum. They detect hazards, discover safety features on railway vehicles and around railway tracks.

Stop, Look, Listen: Incoming Train?

The exhibition is intended primarily for children aged 3 to 7 years old and their parents.

It aims to encourage families to be vigilant around railway tracks and to teach young children to safe practices near railway facilities.

A Railway Birthday ($)

Children can celebrate their birthday with their friends by spending the day at Exporail on Saturday and Sunday mornings from mid-January to mid-November.

Activities offered according to the season

Crafts and Workshops ($)

The children can participate in various workshops offered with the programming : Railway Ghosts (October), Railway Christmas (December), Royal Visit (May) or, experience Railroad jobs (January and February) and participated to Christmas cookies’ decoration activity (December).

Railway Christmas ($)

Trains and Christmas festivities have been closely associated for a long time. Children will be able to write Santa a letter and mail it in the mail-express car in time for Christmas! Children can also climb aboard the Exporail Christmas Train and they will have the chance to meet Santa Claus during the ride. Exporail will transport them into the Magic of Christmas.

Toddlers’ Zone

This space will allow children between 2 and 5 years old, accompanied by their parents to have a break during their visit; time to have fun with puzzles, figurines, trains, and wooden blocks or to read a story.

The Toddlers’ Zone can accommodate up to 5 children. Participants must remove their boots and shoes to access the playground. They must carefully handle toys and books and store them neatly after. Children must stay at all times under the supervision of their parents. It is forbidden to eat and drink in this space. Activities must be carried out in a manner that respects everyone.

Demonstrations of Operating Turntable

Kids can participate to the demonstration of Operating Turntable Saturdays and Sundays from July to October.
